Download the Extension

Get the latest version of Wendigo

Visit our download page and click the "Download for Chrome" button. The extension will be downloaded as a .zip file to your computer.

  • Make sure you're using a supported browser (Chrome 88+)
  • The download is approximately 400KB
  • Keep the downloaded file - you'll need it in the next step
💡 Tip: Create a dedicated folder for the extension files so you can easily find them later for updates.

Extract the Files

Unzip the downloaded package

Locate the downloaded .zip file and extract its contents:

  • Windows: Right-click the file and select "Extract All..."
  • Mac: Double-click the file to extract
  • Linux: Right-click and select "Extract Here"

After extraction, you'll have a folder containing the extension files. Remember where this folder is located!

Important: Don't delete this folder after installation! Chrome needs it to run the extension.

Enable Developer Mode

Open Google Chrome and navigate to the extensions page:

  • Type chrome://extensions in the address bar
  • Press Enter to open the extensions page
  • Find the "Developer mode" toggle in the top-right corner
  • Click the toggle to turn it ON (it should turn blue)
💡 Developer mode allows you to install extensions that aren't from the Chrome Web Store.

Load the Extension

Install Wendigo in your browser

Now install the extension:

  • Click the "Load unpacked" button that appeared when you enabled Developer mode
  • Navigate to the folder you extracted in Step 2
  • Select the folder (not individual files)
  • Click "Select Folder" or "Open"

You should see Wendigo appear in your extensions list. The icon will also appear in your toolbar!

Create Your Account

Sign up and start using Wendigo

Click the Wendigo icon in your toolbar to open the extension. You'll be prompted to create an account or log in:

  • Enter your name, email, and create a password
  • Click "Register" to create your account
  • You'll be automatically logged in

That's it! Wendigo is now active and will start tracking links on the pages you visit.
